I think you're on the money. Why would you deploy SAM's around D.C. for an "exercise"???? When I was in the service, they never would deploy live-fire large weapons near a major U.S. city and as the brass used to say, it would only happen if TSHTF. We were always told they were afraid a newbie would blow a commercial plane out of the sky by accident...

What I don't get is why they say the weapons are un-armed: what's the point? Is that just designed to make people feel better?

they have many times given alerts for ONLY OVERseas americans without raising us up on the scale. i think they are covering their asses..don;t won't to panic people at home but at the same time if there is a terroist attack they will be covered
