Just think of how many trillions of trees have been saved thanks to the inventiveness of technological geniuses. E-mail has cut paper billing, massive amounts of corporate paperwork and storage have been replaced by hard drives and magnetic tape, etc. IIRC, the western wildfires are exacerbated because there are many TIMES more trees per acre than there were a century ago. The problem now is too MANY trees, not a lack of them!

OOPS! I condensed too much... "E-mail has cut paper billing" should read "E-mail has replaced letter-writing, and online billing has cut paper billing"

Just think of how many trillions of trees have been saved thanks to the inventiveness of technological geniuses. Who cares? The act of cutting trees and replacing them removes CO2 from the atmosphere as long as the resulting products aren't burned. I don't know that the net cycle tree-to-wood-to-paper-to-landfill is a CO2 source or sink (since some human and industrial work is required in the above) but it certainly isn't the environmental evil some would claim.
