Air defense is the life and blood of these guys. They are the absolute epitomy of air defense excellence.
It is far more important that this select group inspire thousands of men and women to join our services, which they do an excellent job of.
It would have been nice had they been there and armed, but I am proud they are serving a far more important role. The young people they inspire to serve may eventually save tens of thousands, rather than just thousands.

Sorry I don't buy this.20-mm. "ball" ammunition will rip right through the engine / cockpit of any commercial aircraft. If they were armed with 20mm ball, any commercial aircraft could have easily been taken down.
Yup you are correct. That 20MM TP will shear a wing off.
