Now that Labor Day and its usual politics have safely passed, we can turn our attention to the mid-term elections that are nearly upon us. With the glut of unpredictable factors, from the war on terrorism and the economy to a possible stand-down in politics by the vice president to unemployment and boardroom corruption, outcomes are impossible to predict.

I don't think I can be able to stand it again.
It would be time for a revolution.
There must be some furniture they forgot to pilfer from the first eight years....sigh...
No. Not again. Never again.
Regards, Ivan
Yeah, they want to get the rest of the stuff they couldn't carry away the first time.
The chattering classes on the East Coast will continue to speculate about this, and I'm sure the media is standing by to ram her down our throats if they can, but I don't think people are going to be fooled a second time. What the media needs is a new Kennedy. All the ones they have are either broken or dead. If they had a real Kennedy to hype, the media would drop the Clintons like a hot rock. |
Gee, that's real sad and everything (sarcasm), but somebody that screwed up should never have been President in the first place. Its spouse is even more deranged.
Why should he be bothered? He has a fawning media, who graduated from Monica Lewinsky University with honors. They will either not report or bury anything contradictory that comes from his lying mouth. Add to that, an idiotic populace of sheeple who hang on his every word, just so long as he favors more government handouts.
PROSECUTOR: In the same way he refused to hold a dialogue with the people, now he also refuses to speak with us. He always claimed to act and speak on behalf of the people, to be a beloved son of the people, but he only tyrannized the people all the time. You are faced with charges that you held really sumptuous celebrations on all holidays at your house. The details are known. These two defendants procured the most luxurious foodstuffs and clothes from abroad. They were even worse than the king, the former king of Romania. The people only received 200 grams per day, against an identity card. These two defendants have robbed the people, and not even today do they want to talk. They are cowards. We have data concerning both of them. I ask the chairman of the prosecutor's office to read the bill of indictment.
CHIEF PROSECUTOR: Esteemed chairman of the court, today we have to pass a verdict on the defendants Nicolae Ceausescu and Elena Ceausescu who have committed the following offenses: Crimes against the people. They carried out acts that are incompatible with human dignity and social thinking; they acted in a despotic and criminal way; they destroyed the people whose leaders they claimed to be. Because of the crimes they committed against the people, I plead, on behalf of the victims of these two tyrants, for the death sentence for the two defendants. The bill of indictment contains the following points: Genocide, in accordance with Article 356 of the penal code. Two: Armed attack on the people and the state power, in accordance with Article 163 of the penal code. The destruction of buildings and state institutions, undermining of the national economy, in accordance with Articles 165 and 145 of the penal code. They obstructed the normal process of the economy.
PROSECUTOR: Did you hear the charges? Have you understood them?
CEAUSESCU: I do not answer, I will only answer questions before the Grand National Assembly. I do not recognize this court. The charges are incorrect, and I will not answer a single question here. [Curiously, he did not try the "meaning of 'is' defense"] source
I tend to be a little more optimistic...clearly, with an opinion piece like this one, the "Pittsburgh Tribune-Review" is not the "paper of record" (!), but the Clintons never really contended with the power of the internet, where like-minded folks across the country are able to communicate and "activate"...kind of like a "national grass-roots campaign" (remember, the pundits didn't see how W could defeat Algore, either...)
So, cheers for fly-over cyber-space!!
And, BTW, what do you mean about Yugoslavian tyrants and the folks there doing the reasonable thing? (please excuse my ignorance!)
Thanks for post! /ignorance, and that's quite an intriguing comparison to our favorite "power couple"...
