[history]
The chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee is much more optimistic that the Republican Party will regain control of the Senate this year -- so much so that he now says he can afford to "take risks" in some longshot races.

President Bush is doing the best he can with his judicial appointments. If people will give him a republican senate, I'm sure he will come through for us.

Don't forget Georgia.
Max Cleland could be hurt if McKinney's supporters stay home (something that probably will happen).

I couldn't agree with you more. The few poor nominations he has had were Clinton nominations that he re-nominated to throw a bone to the Dems. Nice payback huh?

For one, I hope it will get the partisan politics out of the nomination process and return some semblance of balance to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

What changes will be made by the gop that will begin to return our country to a constitutional republic.Just getting fair people on those federal benches would be a HUGE step in that direction don't you think?
Beyond that I think tax reform, as opposed to the tinkering with the tax code we've been getting for many years now, would be a REAL possability.
All manner of smalls steps would be possible in fact but it ain't gonna happen overnight! It can't!

I don't think you want the Republicans to re-take the senate. Think happy thoughts, don't be Mr. Doom and gloom, it gets you nowhere. Well, you're certainly right about the 'gloom and doom'.
My cynicism about the Repubs has increased in recent years, I mean, who would have thought our big tent would bite us so hard with Jumpin Jim? And, if the truth be told, I think it's going to bite us again. What do those guys know that we don't, that would cause them to betray the freedoms so many died for?
The Repubs are really our only chance (short term) to continue this 'The Greastest Experment in Human History'. Yes, I do want them to win, but I've lower my expectations a long way since '94.
