They not only lost in Algeria but in the fifties just as Algeria was fighting for her independence, Morroco and Tunisia started to fight for theirs too. After a few weeks France just gave in and gave them their independence and hey presto lost another two wars!!!
Thats what happens if you try to keep your empire. Us Brits weren't like that though and were nice to our colonies. In fact France have not really won a war in the last century. They did sink a ship though; the Rainbow Warrior. I really do feel sorry for them.
The amount of times we Brits have wooped their ass is just too much!!!
ps The French have lost more wars in 20th century than any other nation.
