So Prohibition just repealed itself all on its own due to physics, and there was no one actively seeking its repeal?

That is factually incorrect. During and yes, after Prohibition, the consumption, of alcoholic beverages, went D-O-W-N !

The essential facts of the matter are, that from even before we were a nation, this country consumed MORE alcohol ( many had beer with breakfast ! ) was consumed, than in any other nation. It grew worse and worse and worse. Even the Abolishonists, prior to the Civil War, said that American alcoholism and public drunkenness, was a worse problem than slavery was. Don't believe me ? Look it up. :-)
