[history]
PHILADELPHIA - The Rev. David Moyer, an Episcopal priest who says the church has become too liberal on issues such as the ordination of women and recognition of same-sex unions, was defrocked yesterday by the bishop of Pennsylvania.
Moyer is a leader of Forward in Faith, a movement that sought to make him a bishop for more conservative congregations within the church.

This is another example of the liberal agenda. Once in control and in power there is no room for differing opinions.Liberals and Democrats have the same M.O. and that is march in lockstep in our parade or you are no longer welcome. It is the scorched earth policy and dictatorial.

The ridiculous liberalization of the Episcopal church is the prime and only reason I left. I remain an Anglican in my heart and soul, but will not attend services, or support the Episcopal church in any way.
When asked about mty religious affiliation, I say I am an "unchurched Anglican"... more of us should do the same, and let our local priests know that we stay away, because G-d has called us to do so.

To all of my fellow Lutheran freepers whose church is a member of the ELCA:
Is this the sort of denomination you want to have a "Call To Common Mission" with? Urge your congregation to get out of the ELCA and away from their liberal socialist agenda and their CCM with the Episcopal Church.

Urge your congregation to get out of the ELCA How does one do that? Who holds the papers on the church building? Do you know of any congregations that achieved this worthwhile goal? I ask because many in our ELCA congregation are concidering a "revolt." We want to have our 'T's" crossed and the "I's" dotted.

Anyone else appreciate the sad irony of the Catholic church being urged to defrock sexually abusive priests, or those who have disregarded the teachings of Christ, and the Episcopal church defrocking one who follows them?!
To: Russ
They are too deeply entrenched in the ELCA way. Once the older generation dies off, they will have complete control. IMO, the only thing to do is start a third synod in America.

Hey, what state are you living in? I am curious because, here in Northern Virginia, liberalism lives.

I feel for Rev. Moyer -- I'm not an Episcopalian anymore because of the liberal buffoonery tell him that
we'll take him!

Once again, the Episcopalian hierarchy has demonstrated it is in league with its witless fellow religio-beaurocrats in the Catholic Church, Methodist Church and mainstream Presbyterian Church in America. These faiths are melting into liberal clones of the Unitarians and Quakers.
