I've recently found a letter written by Washington to his wife, informing her that he had accepted responsibility for "... the whole army raised for the denfense of America...". It is so deeply poignant ... too long to post here ... maybe someday.

I'll have to give that some thought. A government that hopes to govern a rowdy bunch of spirited, free, people, must do one of two things, govern with a totally fair and balanced hand, or replace/over run the population with those whose expectations of freedom are alot lower.

While our Constitution is a wonderous document, it lacks a punishing rod over the heads of elected officals, who tend to disdain it's power. And while I would always want to see our Constitution survive, I'm not sure how I feel about a government that disdains this document, this controlling legal authority, or how long it should last.

I think D.C. is broken, corrupt, lawless, overbearing. The power needs to be returned to the individual states, and drained from D.C.
