My flag flies directly above one of our outside house lights. It is not a spotlight, so it may not meet the strict requirements of the flag code. At the time of September 11, I had to make a decision. I was either going to take the flag down every night, in which case it might not be out from time to time due to forgetting or being in a hurry, or while out of town, or leave it out at all times. I decided to leave it out. The light is on every night, but even if it wasn't I think it's better to violate the rules than have no flag at all.

I put mine up before sept. 11, and haven't taken it down. I don't take it down at night, or when it's raining. I got the flag at Costco, and I don't think it even faded. My neighbors across the street have a very bright floodlight they leave on at night that is probably visible from space. I hope that it lights up the flag enough. Now you have me worried about my flag. Am I a bad American for not practicing proper flag ediquette? It's either out all of the time, or in all of the time. I'm too busy to do much switching.
