I should have clarified - it comes down in the rain, at night and when we travel. It goes up first thing every morning and comes down at dark. I do have a question though - the flagpole we have doesn't permit a flag to be flown at half mast - how do I handle that on 9/11. Think I read a black ribbon around the flagpole covers the half mast issue.

My flag flies directly above one of our outside house lights. It is not a spotlight, so it may not meet the strict requirements of the flag code. At the time of September 11, I had to make a decision. I was either going to take the flag down every night, in which case it might not be out from time to time due to forgetting or being in a hurry, or while out of town, or leave it out at all times. I decided to leave it out. The light is on every night, but even if it wasn't I think it's better to violate the rules than have no flag at all.
