Reflecting the Bush administration's current focus on Iraq, Mr. Tenet also said Baghdad is continuing its program to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and missile delivery systems.

"We believe that Saddam never abandoned his nuclear weapons program," Mr. Tenet said, noting that Iraq has kept "a significant number of nuclear scientists, program documentation and probably some dual-use manufacturing infrastructure that could support a reinvigorated nuclear program." A major fear of the CIA is that Iraq will gain access to radioactive fuel that could be used to create nuclear weapons, he said.

The evidence that Saddam is near to getting operational nukes needs to be laid out. The case needs to be laid out. The administration says it will do that. Why don't we just wait and see what is adduced? If Saddam is near to achieving that goal, he needs to have visited upon him a final exit at room temperature. If the evidence is make weight, I will join you in saying that the risk outweigh the rewards, although I will hope for the best.

I've already posted the source. When the inspector were kicked out in '98 they had produce not evidence of biological or chemical weapons except some let over shell casings from the war which they said had traces on them. My facts are correct.

Why the Administration doesn't present it in the following simple way I can't figure out:

1. He hasn't complied with a single one of the terms of his surrender, most significantly completely disarming and allowing international verification of same. (like Germany defied the terms of Versailles and resulted in Hitler's rearming and the conquest of Europe)

2. He tried to have Bush #1 assassinated in Kuwait well after he was out of office and the war over. Even the great Pretender Clinton was forced to make 'war' over this, warning Sadaam before launching a few missiles into empty Bhagdad buildings. That account hasn't been settled as far as I'm concerned.

3. The thrice comfirmed surreptitious meeting in a European backwater between Atta and one of Sadaam's spooks. What do you want, a signed confession?

4. Sadaam's own rhetoric of destroying not only us, but our strategic allies, coupled with his illegal programs to acquire the tools for the job. Our rhetoric is to remove Sadaam and liberate the Iraqi people. Sadaam's is that we should all be wiped from the face of the Earth (I refer you to Hitler again). Do you really want to find out what weapons he has or will have the hard way???

5. He is fueling the Israel-Pali conflict in word and deed, bleeding all parties and driving the wedge further between the West and all of Islam, a strategic security issue global in scope. Understand this, Sadaam will never allow a settlement in the Israel-Pali conflict (and he's in a position to stop any move toward one). It is too good a shield to hide behind, as is evident in today's headlines.

6. Simple prudence. Think of it, Bush is steward of the most open society on Earth, with hundreds of millions of my fellow citizens vulnerable to WMD in Sadaam's hands or the hands of his friends. If you can sleep ok with a nuclear-equipped Iraq, fine, just don't ask me to.

7. Simple logic: all parties who wish America harm, don't want us to do it. That's how I'm absolutely certain it must be in our interest.
