Welcome to FR. You're going to find a lot of hostility toward Islam here, most of it from people who take the trash-talking radicals at their word. And for good reason, there are rather a good number of them and they really are trying to kill us, you know.

You will also encounter those who are just as upset as you about this distortion of an otherwise beautiful and limpid theology. There are Christians who are similarly guilty about twisting the doctrine of their gentle Savior into justification for harming their fellow men and women. The difference is that these are few and largely marginalized, while at the moment the Islamic radicals are anything but.

I'm pulling for you. And, if I understand you correctly, I agree with you: this insane drumbeat of hatred has to stop. Only Moslems can make that happen, the rest of us cannot.
