Since three of the longest rivers in the world, the Nile, Zambezi and Congo, are on the African continent, it is not for a lack of resources that they cannot produce energy. Their problem is a lack of cultural resources (to put it kindly).

Actually, four of the longest rivers in the world are in Africa--the fourth is the Niger River, which at 2600 miles is longer than the Zambezi, or the Mississippi.
