It is how you wrote your post It is not the fault of the reader.
Say what you mean.

I am not sure how that quote may or may not apply on this thread, but I will strongly insist that it need not be true.
I have been embroiled in countless debates, in which one or several opponents flatly refused to address what was actually said, choosing instead to hare off on absurd tangents derived from what they THOUGHT was said, and no amount of repetition - not... even... explanations... couched... like... so - availed in deterring their headlong flights into fancy.
People can and very often DO flatly refuse to see the point.
