Can I ask a silly question? Allowing women to be members of a golf club does NOT mean that guys have to golf with them. I guess I just don't understand the He-Man Women Hater's Club aspect to this.
Sure, just as allowing men to be members of a female only health club does NOT mean that women have to lift weights with them. I guess I just don't understand the She-Woman Man Hater's Club aspect to this.

You are a genious. Great points.

Hootie was more than fair to this woman. My response would have been much shorter:
Dear Ms. Burk,
Bite me!
Respectfully,
Hootie Johnson, et al.
It's not about the golf. It's about their rights as a private club.

Frankly, I hope Augusta sues these bitches for tortious interference.
Ooooh, I like it! Hit 'em in the pocketbook where it'll get their attention.
I'm an occassional golfer who'd never be able to afford the membership at a club like Augusta (if women were allowed) and I can not appreciate the fuss. Their private club, their legal right. Some folks need to get over it!
How many women could possibly benefit from a change in Augusta's charter? Shouldn't these women's organizations focus on doing something productive for a change?
I've said it before, I'll say it again: NOW sucks.

Can men not belong to brotherhood organizations anymore. There are exclusively women organizations and affilitates all over the country, and I'm willing to gander that the number of female exclusive clubs is higher than the number of male exclusive clubs.
Augusta National is a private club, and it has a right to allow whoever it wants. It has a right to be an all-mens club if it so chooses.
Why are you equating the freedom of association, as well as brotherhood, with hating. That's a communist ploy, and its time people stopped being deceived by such.
To: 3k9pm
I think that it was an excellent move, as it takes away a lot of the negative press, catered to by the communist media, and it alleviates the potential for disruption of this event. Absolutely brilliant idea.

I thought that they were talking about Darius Rucker, too.

That is, when I first read the title.

NOW I KNOW WHY TIGERS EAT THEIR YOUNG. TELL THE WAITER THIS MEAT IS LOW GRADE DOG FOOD. ALSO, I CAN STILL SEE THE MARKS WHERE THE JOCKEY WAS HITTING IT. LOL!
The last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it! ;-)
BTW, do try to get that "CAPS LOCK" key fixed, as there's no need to shout. Eh? :-)
To: PLK
Why do golf courses have "women's tees". isn't that descriminatory? In the name of equality you wouldn't you think that the Women's group would be protesting? Move the damn tees back and make it equal.

I note with delight that your queries have been more than adequately answered.
I can only assume you are happy now. ;^)

FWIW, the hubby agrees with you. But he can't give me a decent answer on why the gender of a member matters, either. Just because a person can do something doesn't always mean they should. It's that simple.

BTW, there will come a day when a female golfer comes along who can drive as far as the guys in the PGA. All I can say is that if she wants to play with the men, playing by the same rules and WITHOUT any handicaps or special considerations, God help them and God bless her :)

To: Martha Burk I'm sure you were something before electricity. Hey, you wanna make $14 the hard way?Honey, I don't know what your doing here, but you're sitting on a gold mine!

Just because you don't understand , or think it proper, doesn't mean they should not do it, however!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a free choice thing!

BTW, there will come a day when a female golfer comes along who can drive as far as the guys in the PGA. Keep dreaming. The LPGA's top players, even with the advent of titanium clubs and other tech advances, can not hit the ball as far as Bobby Jones and Sam Snead of the early 1930's were capable with hickory shafts and hard rubber potatoes.
Just like the problem with women firefighters, upper body and leg strength does make a difference.

Sororities aren't exactly men hating organizations but they won't let me join one. Sigh...
