This thing reeks of sour grapes, sounds like you're connected to the non-Indian gaming industry, or could it be youre just another caring soul (read nanny) who knows best how other people should live their lives?

While I don't agree with casinos in principle, and I know that the "tribe" in connecticut is a joke, I'm still trying to figure out what gives the BIA the right to tell us who is, and who isn't an American Indian... We are the only race that is required to have an official gov't ID card that says we are, and how much indian blood we have... quite frankly it's bullcrap - I sent my card back to the BIA a long time ago and told them to kiss my rosy red butt...

You got all that from #1?

Pure speculation on my part, Medicine Man in training.

Considering the Bruce Babbit debacle, the BOIA cash-for-influence scandals of the Clinton years and the fact that these people operate as a separate nation within our borders, I think it's fair to examine their motives and connections.
And if you think about it, Indian gaming and the relative insularity of the reservations is a prime opportunity for an organization like al-Queda.

The "Rez" near where I grew up is kind of a joke... you can drive through and see more afro headed and blonde haired blued eyed Indians than the regulation kind...and the Casinos staffed mostly by local whites and Nevada types...
I think you only have to be 1/6th "Native" to get an official tribal card..thought I am not sure what the conditions are to start getting your check.

Indian gaming and the relative insularity of the reservations is a prime opportunity for an organization like al-Queda. Ain't nothing like a good witch-hunt, hell, one can't be too safe now-a-days, sure thay could be terrorists, we are talking about the future of America here, not on my watch. Yeah, yeah I get it now its for the children.
To: Elle Bee; stand watie
Federal handling of Indian affairs has been a disgrace for generations, and casinos have been a perhaps understandable response. The feds and the BIA have terminally mucked up Indian affairs for 150 years.

I suggest you shimmy over to your local Community College and sign up for the Arabic language classes.
Maybe you noticed, about a year ago, 3,000 people died.
Of course, that was a one-time thing, it couldn't happen again because they made their point, and they're not going to bother us anymore or look for weakness within our borders.
Thanks, TS, I'll protect my children with something more than hand-wringing liberal guilt and a fear of insulting someone's pride .

And if you think about it, Indian gaming and the relative insularity of the reservations is a prime opportunity for an organization like al-Queda. The tribes that have adopted gambling are probably the least likely to embrace any terrorist organization. Instead they are embracing capitalism and the great pursuit of the all mighty dollar. What could be more American? Instead of looking at the tribes that are on the move maybe you should look at the tribes that are going nowhere, for evidence of harboring your malcontents, subversives and terrorists.
To: Elle Bee
Early Americans were against scalping, but today the public is begging for it.

I suggest you shimmy over... Why don't you come right over and nudge me a bit, that is if you think are man, or fool enough.

Because you can't beat me with an argument you want fisticuffs? How desperately manly! of you.
Oh goodness.

What's the use of getting sober
When you're gonna get drunk again
Oh Sam done something fine
When he bought that good whiskey, beer and wine
I love my whiskey and I love my gin
Every time you see me I'm in my sin
So what's the use of getting sober
When you're gonna get drunk again -- Joe Jackson
