Clinton Orchestrated McAuliffe Attack on Bush

More evidence that ex-president Clinton is actively working behind the scenes to undermine President Bush emerged this weekend, with the revelation that the wording of a caustic attack on Bush delivered by Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe last month was personally reviewed and approved of by the ex-president ahead of time.

"Ever the master political strategist, Clinton also regularly dispenses advice to Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, his longtime friend," reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday.

"Before McAuliffe delivered a blistering attack on the Bush administration's economic policies last month, the party chairman had Clinton review the speech," the paper added.

The Clinton-orchestrated McAuliffe address, delivered at the party's Las Vegas convention on Aug. 10, raised eyebrows for the harshness of its rhetoric, which included the claim that the Bush White House had cynically tried to manipulate the 9-11 tragedy for political advantage.

The next day the Washington Post reported:

"Although Democrats once claimed to stand 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with Bush on the war, McAuliffe threw away that script by accusing the president of using 'September's tragedy to explain away' the reappearance of federal budget deficits and saying that Bush had 'cynically made 9/11 the cornerstone of the Republican strategy for 2002.'"

In his Clinton approved address, McAuliffe also skewered the Bush economic record, telling the Las Vegas crowd, "Every time this economic team opens its mouth, markets shudder, currencies collapse and Americans watch their 401(k)s dwindle."

The Clinton-McAuliffe speech even attacked Bush on the scandal front, signaling that the ex-president has no qualms raising ethical questions about opponents despite his own record of wall-to-wall scandal while in office, not to mention his repeated disavowals of "the politics of personal destruction."

"To paraphrase a Republican hero, Mr. President, tear down this stonewall," McAullife railed, in reference to Bush's refusal to approve the release of records from the Security and Exchange Commission's probe into his old oil company Harken Energy.

Another campaign message pushed by Clinton is beginning to creep into the campaign rhetoric of Democrats, the Journal-Constitution said; that a Democratic majority in Congress is the best "check" on the Bush White House.

Presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton touted the importance of a congressional check on Bush on Friday, as she described her visit to U.S. soldiers injured in Afghanistan who were recovering at Washington's Walter Reed Medical Center.

With her husband at her side, Clinton told a crowd at the New York State Fair that President Bush should seek congressional approval before launching an attack on Iraq that could result in more U.S. casualties.

"I have personal faces I can put on this debate, and I want to be sure that the president comes with his arguments and information and evidence and that we debate it, and then as a nation we'll stand behind the decision," Mrs. Clinton advised.

Your points are all excellent Ready - the good people of Arkansas did speak out - it was just kept from the remainder of the country by the media. I stand corrected. Thanks for your detailed response and reminder - it's timely and needed because the mainstream media has not changed or regretted even one devious action they have taken to MIS-inform us. FReegards

The clinton years ushered in Republican gains. May "ever the master of political strategist" continue destroying his own party. (How many knee pads did this reporter wear out to come up with a phrase like "ever the master of political strategist"? These reporters no shame.)

~~~Remember the movie Seconds? Using that technique, he can replace any President-elect, Democrat or Republican, who resembles him in any way and serve out two more terms. He won't even have to campaign.~~~
Splain' please?
"I have personal faces I can put on this debate"
What the hell is that suppose to mean?! While she is "debating" the issue we could have another terrorist attack. SHUT UP, hillary!
I didn't notice her debating whether to burn children at Waco or whether to send Elian back home to a dictator. B****! Are there STILL people who think this woman isn't a two-faced LIAR?!
The VRWC is waiting. None of these dirty scumbags dare make a public speach where all the questions and answers are not scripted. They hide behind camaras, micophones, and body guards spilling their trash talk without consquences.
Cowards and Liers.
"ever the master of political strategist"
Good point and one that always gets me hollering at the TV, (according to my wife). I have never understood why Bubba is cannonized as the master politician...other than the fact he did beat a couple of weak Republican presidential wannabes. In the final analysis, he couldn't even carry Algore on his pant tails and was responsible for a large shift to the right on a nation-wide political scale. Geez, he even had to shift from the left rightward to govern, much to the private irritation of his own socialist party.
What a joke- thanks Bill C. for the first Republican Congress in 40 years, not to mention his impeachment.
"Remember when she called him from Europe and told him to START THE BOMBING?????"
I forgot that! Puts it into a different light when we look back now doesn't it.
Because us "little people" in these "backward states" don't know the brilliance of this woman. /sarcasm
Because that's the ONLY way that she can get elected as President, IMO.
Because EVEN the Clinton a** kissers in Arkansas and the rest of the country hate her.
Because...SHE WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT, Damn it!
Well the Slickster used the Oklahoma bombing to his so I guess he figures everybody does it
I think the biggest disappointment of Clinton's life is that 9/11 didn't happen on his watch. I can just picture him stomping and gnashing his teeth over that. Bill Clinton is much more important to Bill Clinton that all of those lives lost and the families who have been shattered.
Your welcome Libertina...Maybe right now would be a good time to remind all the Flordia voters of what Janet Reno & the klinton adminstration did to the folks at Waco.
Between the days of February 28, 1993 and April 19th, 1993, approximately 80 men, women, and children living peacefully in their home near Waco, Texas, were killed by the combined efforts of the US Defense Department and other government paramilitary units: the US Treasury Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The incident also claimed the lives of four ATF agents.
The liberial news media brain-washed the public for 51 days...telling the public that this was a cult and a bunch of nuts living together, we were treated to such buzz words as this was a "compound" instead of it's a community home. We were told they had massive amounts of "guns" but we weren't told that one man made his living as a registered gun dealer who was operating a perfectly legal business.
The public was brain-washed so bad...making it acceptable for Ms. Reno to give the orders to take them out!
Ms Reno accepted the blame afterwards, but there was no excuse for 80 people being killed by their own government. There was evidence revealed to a shocking truth: Many of the Davidians were dead at the time of the April 19 tank attack and fire; some of the mothers and children had been dead for weeks. The Davidian bodies had been selectively beheaded, mutilated and incinerated ("laundered") to disguise the time, cause, and circumstances of death. The tank attack and fire were diversions to hide the truth and destroy the death scene.
The American citizens should never forget what happened to 80 innocent men, women, & children!
In Seconds, the concept was to give a client a totally new identity by faking his/her death, etc..... Today, better techniques are available. If no one suspects it has been done, a DNA test will not be requested. A lot of other factors would have to fall into place, as well, but the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy can make it happen. It would make a good seguel.
