Very much for this one! My score to this point is 40 out of a possible 40.

I support the part about the financial impact, although I wouldn't trust their numbers. It might make them stop and think, though.

The part about the impact on the family is a bunch of feel-good garbage. This is straight out of the "for the cheeeldren" handbook.

I don't really want a resolution in military action in Iraq stopped because a debate on its impact on "the family."

The people who wrote this plank have one thing in mind. The Democrats would have quite another, and they control the Senate.

I have no argument with your observations here. If it had been left up the me the plank would have read as follows:

The Party urges that legislation be adopted requiring all bills presented in Congress to include citations as to the constitutional provision that authorizes Congress to act on the matter under consideration.

OK this will slow things down and that's good plus it will make them at least think about what they are doing.

I don't like the scoring system. This particular plank consists of three totally unrelated concepts, tied only to the introduction of legislation. I have reservations about the first two concepts, although I think they're generally positive, and the last one is stupid and counterproductive.

The scoring system implies a thumbs up or thumbs down on the plank as written in its entirety. That's not reflective of how I feel.

If I had to vote on the adoption of this particular plank as written, I'd vote no, as I would have the previous one. So, under this arbitrary, capricious, and probably unconstitutional scoring system, I'm running 20 points behind you. ;-)

If keeping score is important, maybe we ought to do it at the end of the thread, and not the beginning. Locking people into a position before a discussion doesn't allow much freedom to change positions when new aspects are raised.

OK! the scoring system is hereby ammended, by The KING of these threads, to whit:

We will, henceforth assign a score of between 0 and 10 points to each of the planks! 10 means you agree with EVERYTHING in it. 0 means you agree with NOTHING in it!

I can't do better than a 5 on this plank. My cumulative score is now 29.

Keep in mind that, as an attorney, I'm predisposed to be a Devil's Advocate. I'm going to picking apart each plank in order to find something I don't like.
