When I began posting here FR I chose that name as a result of frustration over the election ruckus. However, now it does speak my feelings concerning all of the evil that is befalling our children.

I have just learned that the person who is suspected of doing this is a mentally retarded individual or one of those with previous mental problems. I am unsure of the exact diagnosis of his condition.

I am trying to remain an example of "Christ like" behaviour in so much as I am searching my heart for forgiveness for this individual as this is what I have taught my children that our faith ( Christianity ) is about. But having seen the carnage and being close to these children on a personal level, I must say that it is hard for me. I must say that the more I see these things happen to the young children in this country that revenge is an emotion that I deal with daily when listening to the news.

Please don't struggle with forgiveness for this man. You do not have the power to forgive his horrific crime. He did not trespass against you.

Our job as adults on this earth where children need protection is to establish and enforce JUSTICE.

Wishing the best for the children.

You can't forgive him. Only the victims can.

Being forgiven, as I understand it, even from God, is conditional upon repenting, turning from, and asking forgiveness for the sin. Try not to hate, but neither be in a rush to extend forgiveness before it is even asked for.

THe mental state of the assailant doesn't alter the pain and suffering of these innocent young victims-nor should it ever be a factor in the punishment for the crime.
