Do Americans still care enough about the country and about larger principles to demand immigration policies that would bring skilled immigrants, that would better balance all the poor and untutored immigrants with those with higher skills, and that would reconstitute a serious INS? One has to wonder.

They would care if they lived in FLorida, Texas and California! WEll...maybe not California. I guess it has to be really bad before people will start to see that it's a BIG problem and start to do something.
I thought Bush recently toughened border control with military already??
