Is that from the Chrispen's Day speech, or however it is spelled or called? IF so, that is one of the gleaming jewels of English literature, or literature in any language.

Well, the dems have dug themselves in a hole, by insisting on hearings and a debate. Cheney said that the Presidient had told all of his national security team (I would assume this is Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Tenet) that they were to testify.

Leahy against Cheney should be fun to watch. Ha!

Personally, I think they have all sorts of evidence, and we will probably be shown aerial photos, transcripts of e-mails and phone calls, testimony by defectors and agents, etc.

I am SO looking forward to this. And you are quite right....his numbers will go up.

Third possibility: We never intended to invade Iraq.

CNN also deems the United States as the aggressor in the Cold War, considers the Soviet Union to have been actively pursuing peace.

Time boasted Strobe Talbott on its masthead at a time when he confidently predicted the end of the nation-state.

CNN has brought us the nonexistent Operation Tailwind and the nonexistent No Gun Ri Massacre.

Time and CNN are the last best hope for Gorbachev and the return of World Communism in the guise of tree-sitters, global-warmers and caviar-eating sustainable-developers.

They called their skewed demos and fed them push polls and the rats pushed the bar for a food pellet. Skinner box results.

Wasn't Sept 11 about domestic airlines? Bush was wise to drop this one. We have freaked out over airplanes, when sealed cockpit doors would have done it. The next attack, if one ensues, and we all hope it does not, will be effected in all probability by a different MO.

There has been an awful lot of buildup to such a climatic ending. That would make very poor material for a novel.

I'm with you on that one! I just cannot believe that we'd broadcast it like we have.

But, of course, I've been accused of being dense before!

So what is the analysis of this poll?
Seems strange...the markets are better
now than when Bush rated higher in
prior polls(on the economy). Second
qtr. growth sagged but first qtr. was
terrific. Productivity is soaring. The
consumer HAS money but is spending a
bit less. Corporate investment is now
taking up the slack. Housing & autos
are GOOD! Is the poll flawed or real?
AS FOR IRAQ, BUSH HAS YET TO TAKE ONE
BIG SHOT AT PUBLIC OPINION. He will!!!

Tell clinton. He listens to polls...so he doesn't have to be a man.

BTW, I don't capitalize his last name, in respect for the decent Clintons who he has thoroughly disgraced.

From CNN/TIME,
*Bush Approval Rating Down: George Bush's approval rating of 65% is the lowest it has been since before last Sept. 11 (the "high" was 89% Oct. 12; it was 55% July 17-18, 2001 before jumping to 78% Sept. 13).

FreeRepublic Poll:
Question ...
How do you rate President Bush's overall job performance?

Excellent
2,073 votes - 37%

Good
1,583 votes - 28%

Fair
1,000 votes - 17%

Poor
803 votes - 14%

99 votes - 1%

Interesting. If you add "Good" & "Excellent"
from the FR poll, you come out with the
identical rating as the CNN/TIME poll.
Anyone care to venture an explanation?

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

"Support for war with Iraq is lowest among senior citizens, college graduates and low-income Americans."

Gee, the trough feeders speak out. What is most important to ME, today and NOW!

No offense intended to the over achievers or the elderly in general but I do sense a concern to the direction of TAX DOLLAR FLOW in certain groups of people with this poll.

In all of Shakespeare, there is no more stirring a passage than that enunciated by King Henry V before his little army at Agincourt. I shall not reproduce it here, as that would require Formatting Hell, but I love it just the same.

Henry V, Act IV, Scene III.

And yes, it is the "St. Crispian's Day" oration.

Whenever you doubt whether or not we shall prevail in this war against Islamic Fascism, reread that speech. It is in the great tradition of Pericles' Funeral Oration. It gives you the reason, the very soul of the West, as to why we shall, in the end, prevail.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
