Don't feel bad; I'm a PhD candidate (no kidding), minor is informatics (computer stuff), and am still trying to figure out everything in the "The Matrix." I've come to the conclusion that it is not intended to be analyzed from an academic point of view. Nonetheless, I find this paper to be incomprehensible. Perhaps because it is written by a philosophy major?
Ditto.
It is Descartes old "How do I know the world around me isn't the creation of a malicious demon," dressed up in post-modern clothing.
The "ancestor simulation" idea is grating, too. Are Super Mario Brothers, Sonic Hedgehog and Lara Croft our ancestors?
No perhapses about it.
