We cannot just up and move out of Saudi Arabia. The dynamics of our world today is a system of cogs. Just yanking one out will wreak havoc on the entire world order. This is not as simple as an baseball game with some neighborhood friends; where if I don't want to play anymore, I can just take my bat and go home.

Whether we like it or not, understand it or not, is really irrelevant. We do not deserve to *know* all the whys and wherefores. Covert operations should be just that. Classified information should be just that.

I believe that what is occurring is called wargames. Tell the world one thing, though we know we promised each other something entirely different. Let Iraq believe what CNN says, but the truth is far from it. I am confident that Bush and his team are moving their pieces with care and precise planning.

Our interests in Saudi Arabia have less to do with their citizens, and more to do with their oil. If we packed up and went home tomorrow, many interested parties would pounce on Saudi, like someone had just clobbered open a pinata. Power in the region is what lies beneath the Saudi desert, and our presence has kept all of the predators at bay. Backing our presence out slowly is what would serve all of us best.

BILL Clinton might have put more pressure on Saudi Arabia to stop terrorism if he hadn't been friends with Prince Turki al Faisal al Saud from their student days together in the '60s at Georgetown. Prince Turki was the head of Saudi intelligence and the secret police in the Clinton years, and he devised the strategy of appeasement with Osama bin Laden....

Seems a little hard to believe. If you were a rich young Saudi prince would you hang out with a dorky student politician and amateur saxophonist who spends most of his time talking about Arkansas watermelons and how he'll be President some day? A lot of people have been taken in by Clinton, but this doesn't ring true to me, other than to say just that they went to the same college. Even if Clinton and the Saudi prince both spent most of their time getting high and laid, they'd still seem to be in different leagues. If he were stupid enough to hang out with Clinton in college, I doubt he'd be the one to pull the wool over anyone's eyes later.

The question I always had was - did Clinton even know what he knew - by that I mean that I believe he was so high on Cocaine so much of the time, he may have known or been told a lot and his mind just couldn't absorb it.

I'm not excusing him - just commenting on why he could have known and yet didn't seem to know.

Bush has a lot of reasons for attacking China, Vietnam, North Korea, Iran, Albania, Lybia, Zimbabwe, Sudan, and Pakistan. Come to think of it, most countries in the UN want to indict our soldiers take away our gun rights, and make Mothers Day illegal. So, perhaps we should attack most of the world, starting with Britain.

In other words, I'd be happy if we just attacked Iraq. Sad freegards....

It sure is an interesting connection, Fred. Certainly Turki is one he could talk to without raising eyebrows and, apparently, since he (Turki) devised the strategy of appeasement with Osama bin Laden, one who could contact Osama whether directly or indirectly. He already had Arafat (more WH visits than anyone else) as a contact to the other wing of the monster.

This situation reminds me of its parallel: the Clinton administration did great harm to this country, but it was just a bureaucratic SNAFU. And the vast swarm of anti-Clinton folks enjoyed the chance to ridicule the Clintons for being screw-ups and dopes and never even considered that they MEANT to do great harm to this country... And here we are again, Clinton only messed this one up because of his 'ole buddy.

IMO the trouble is that very few people can accept or even face this level of treachery and betrayal, so it couldn't possibly be true. I'm not saying it's true, but I sure am saying it's possible.

And BTW I never bought that BS that Clinton regrets it didn't happen on his watch--it started to happen and Clinton let it. My question: if Clinton REALLY saw attacks on this country as a chance for personal greatness, would he have let loyalty to an old college friend stand in his way? Ergo, he made sure Osama got away undamaged (and with image in the ME enhanced) either from fear or design. Coulda' been fear I guess.
