Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
If you're a felon, you're rights can and should be abridged. At what level is case dependent.
And even then, if a felon is too dangerous to be trusted with a gun, then he shouldn't be let out into society. Once his sentence is up, he is by right a free man once again, with all the natural rights that go along with it, including the right to self-defense.
The problem is all the Barbara Streisand that's classified as a felony. Being a stupid teenager should not cost someone their right to vote or 2nd amendment rights etc.
Also, Rights are given to all by our Creator, not by the central government. Governments cannot grant, nor take away rights. It only protects or violates rights.

You go on to state: "If you're a felon, you're rights can should be abridged."
Then why do we lock up felons in plush, expensive prisons? Why not just lock them up without food and water? They have no rights.
Then what happens after felons complete their sentence? Does this mean they have no 5th or 14th amendment rights any longer?
No 4th amendment rights any longer?
The police will like this. Next time a child is missing, just round up all the felons, without warrants of probable cause, then lock them up, without due process, for their role of a missing child.

If you are released from prison, you have paid your debt to society and should no longer be considered a felon. Anyone still deemed to be a felon should remain in prison.
