After trial, Israel executed Adolph Eichmann. It is possible, but I think unlikely, that Israel has abolished the death penalty since then. What is more likely is that the death penalty is only applied to the most heinous crimes, with mere murder not being sufficient for that penalty. If so, these bombers will face the dealth penalty. I agree with the other poster who said that the trials for these vermin will be conducted with dispatch, compared to criminal trials (and appeals) in the United States. I heard a British barrister remark many years ago that, "We conduct a murder trial and complete the appeal in the time it took you to pick the jury in the [Patty} Hearst trial." He was exaggerating, but not by much.

Traditional Jewish law sets an extremely high standard for the imposition of the death penalty. Circumstantial evidence just doesn't cut it.

Why are you saying that the case against the cell that conducted the Hebrew University bombing is based on "circumstantial evidence"? It is fairly obvious to me from the fact of prompt arrests and full description of the plot, that one or more of the members of the cell have talked. Testimony is direct evidence, not circumstantial evidence. Though I am mindful of Oliver Wendell Holmes' observation that, "Sometimes circumstantial evidence can be compelling, as when you find a trout in the milk."
Thank you for confirming that Israel does have a death penalty. I stand with my prediction that it will be applied in this case.

I'm not saying that the case against the cell that conducted the HU bombing is based on circumstantial evidence, I'm saying that circumstantial evidence is not adequate under ancient, traditional Jewish law to secure a death penalty conviction. If I'm remembering correctly, two eyewitnesses were considered necessary.
It's noted in tradition that a court that imposed the death penalty once in 70 years was considered a bloodthirsty one.
