BTW, I have a gun question? I would like to have a simple shotgun that would cock with a noise that would scare an intruder. I would prefer one that would take birdshot because I don't really want to kill someone, just frighten them off if they should get in my house. I don't want to pay a small fortune for one either because I probably would never use it. Crime is almost non-existant around here, except for family feuds and domestic violence. That is probably because everybody has a gun. So, what is your advice on a gun?

JustFrank has to save it again. He messed it up by trying to put his name on it. He is untrainable. He will just have to sign his name to it. LOL

I don't want to pay a small fortune for one either Visit a local gun show, there will be available "used but reconditioned"
shotguns priced very reasonably.. you probably want a 20 gauge..
and you can check the cocking-noise ratio of many!

A kid walked up to a guy wearing a 10-gallon hat, leather vest, leather chaps, and sneakers. The kid asked him, "Mr. Cowboy, why do you wear that big hat?"
The cowboy replied, "Well, son, the big hat protects me from hot sun and driving rain, and at night I put it over my face when I sleep on the range, so it protects me then, too."
"Why do you wear that leather vest?"
"It also helps to keep the weather off me, and it has pockets where I can keep my valuables."
"Well, why do you wear leather chaps?"
"They protect my legs when I'm driving my horse through mesquite and cactus."
"Well, Mr. Cowboy," the kid finally asked, "Why do you wear sneakers?"
"That's so somebody won't think I'm a damn truck driver."

An attractive woman from New York was driving through a remote part of Texas when her car broke down. An Indian on horseback came along and offered her a ride to a nearby town.
She climbed up behind him on the horse and they rode off. The ride was uneventful except that every few minutes the Indian would let out a whoop so loud that it would echo from the surrounding hills.
When they arrived in town, he let her off at the local service station, yelled one final, "Yahoo!" and rode off.
"What did you do to get that Indian so excited?" asked the service station attendant.
"Nothing," shrugged the woman, "I merely sat behind him on the horse, arms around his waist, and held onto his saddle horn so I wouldn't fall off."
"Lady," the attendant said, "Indians ride bareback..."

"LadyX's morning lecture will be about bathing rules aboard ship, not that many of the crew is concerned with such." Sorry to report a definite lack of motivation.
We lose forward momentum every time we have to stop for keelhauling - or having shoved them overboard, stop to fish 'em out of the water.
Fred is complaining they damage his skis, clinging to them.

Nothing makes a more deliciously frightening sound than working the action of a pump-action Winchester Model 97. You probably would not even have to load this shotgun - the sound alone will send most people running. ;-)

That's what I want. I want something that would have a sound that anybody would recognize and run from. Does that model take birdshot in case I should ever have to shoot it? I'm not a total stranger to handling guns, because there were guns around everybody's house when I was growing up. Used to go squirrel hunting with a 22 rifle. I just don't know much about the different models.

You can arm just about any shotgun with whatever size shot you choose. I have shot rangeing in size from birdshot to buckshot to the rifled slugs.
Winchester has not made this model for several years, so it may be tricky to find. The last one I purchased a few months ago was located in the local fishwrap's classified section.
Have fun with the hunt and good luck with it. JL
