These are the results of opinion poll # 5, conducted by the PalestinianCenter for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) between 18-21 August 2002. Thepoll deals with the public attitudes toward the peace process andreconciliation, armed confrontations, evaluation of the PA performance,political reform, and the popularity of Arafat, Fateh, and Islamist groups.The total sample size of this poll is 1320 from Palestinians 18 years andolder, interviewed face-to-face, in 120 locations in the West Bank (814) andthe Gaza Strip (506). 91% support continued attacks against the Israeli military and settlers in the occupied territories (but 45% do oppose killing civilians inside the green line, a good sign I suppors).
And AFTER a peace agreement, 88% oppose adopting school curriculum in the Palestinian state that recognizes Israel.
Until this changes, there can be no negotiated peace. Palestinian terror will have to be defeated militarily.

Interesting comment. I just posted the PLO's phased plan of 73-74 on another thread, Report: Palestinian Goal is Destruction of Israel in Stages which, along with the destruction of Israel, calls for a revolution in Jordan to establish a government which will ally itself with the PLO.

They clearly state their goals, Report: Palestinian Goal is Destruction of Israel in Stages and believe its working. BTW it looks like they are right in this assessment.
What can persuade them that they are wrong?
This poll does show that some economic wishes do exist among Palestinians, but they are vastly overshadowed with hatred to Jews. Plus, they believe that their PHASED PLAN does work. The only conclusion: they need to be made painfully disillusioned in this. Then, may be, desire to better their economic condition will have a chance to move them in the smart direction.
