Sweet Mercy .... What is it with psychos killing their kids. I mean, there has to have been some sign that this lady wasn't right in the head.

Well then leave the sucker for crying out loud, don't shoot your babies.

Third prize. Stormhands won with the suggestion that she should have shot the husband.

Yeah but I bet you live in an area where a 2 bedroom shack costs 300 grand a year right?

4th prize? I think this was the point. She was obviously nuts to begin with.

son reported to authorities that his mother had a .38 Smith and Wesson gun

This woman was PC all the way, right down to a 'politially correct' firearm. The husband was taking the moral high ground in their childrens' education and she wanted no part of it. Feminazism has left its mark.

A two bedroom shack in Montana will cost you 300 grand, but it's on 600 acres.

Actually, no. Almost all the districts around here pay that much; well, not the inner city. There are lots of areas where one can live and drive to work. If you're willing to look around, you can easily find a nice 3/4 bedroom for under 200K. But if you wish, you can also pay a lot more. I just sold a nice 3 bedroom twin two years ago for under 100K.

I guess we just flat out suck in NC because our teachers don't make jacksh*t

We don't suck. We just are better at evaluating what teachers are worth (although we still are a little on the high side).

oh i am sure it wasn't the only issue, but it appears to have been the precipitating issue. She, for whatever reason, (and i,for one, will NOT judge her based on her not wanting to homeschool her children) did not want to continue homeschooling. He obviously preferred that she continue.

Sounds good to me

Did I misunderstand something, did she not get what she wanted?

Looks that way to me, too. Very confusing, unless they were arguing about it, and that's why he was sleeping elsewhere...? And why just the two children - why not the other two? Sounds like an argument between two parents, and one decided to take revenge on the other. What better way to get revenge than by taking away something he cherished most? Another sad story.

(Manhattan school teachers make $50K year for good reason.)

btw, for anyone interested-- http://www.nea.org/edstats/images/02rankings.pdf contains NEA 2001 Statistics and 2002 Estimates (includes salaries by state)

The husband was taking the moral high ground in their childrens' education and she wanted no part of it. Feminazism has left its mark.

Now that is a bunch of crap. NOT EVERYONE should homeschool their kids, this is proof of that if nothing else. the woman was wacky, she clearly was not equipped to provide her children the best education. if you have a NUTTY parent, or one that lacks sufficient patience, or one that is just NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH, they are not the best educator of their child.

Would It be as funny If I Implied the same thing about your mother ?

Only if my mother were in the news for sexual molestation.

Having said that, there must be more to this story. The kids were enrolled in public school like mom wanted. Why did she shoot them?

Ya think? You mean that most people don't respond to not getting their own way (or getting their own way but having to argue with their husbands over it) by shooting their kids?

What planet was I raised on?

;)

Shalom.

Well she technically was not a homeschool mother when she made the decision to shoot them--they were going to public school.

I'm not knocking her decision. It's not for everyone and I admit there are times I wonder why the heck I'm doing this (then I snap out of it.)...I just don't think homeschooling is "THE" reason she did what she did, argument or not. None of us were in that household day in and day out. Who knows why she did what she did (other than the obvious fact that she was VERY troubled and not all was right with that family.)
