This could turn out to be a very important discovery...in health and disease as well as in paleoanthropology.

Say hello to Gene. <|:)~

Humans and chimps share more than 98 percent of their DNA, so a few genes must make a big difference. Mugabe (or Clinton, or Osama, or Ted Bundy-- pick your human villain) and I probably share 99.99 percent of our genes, so a few genes must make a BIG difference.
I couldn't resist. Interesting article.

A gene that separates humans from the apes and all other animals seems to have disappeared from humans up to three million years ago, just before they first stood upright, researchers said on Monday. Most animals have the gene but people do not -- and it may be somehow involved in the expansion of the brain, the international team of researchers said. The same could be said for the baculum as well. That makes an even bigger difference.

Next step: figure out a way to turn off the gene in Chimps. When that's complete, put on Planet of the Apes on an endless loop and watch what happens...

From mice to men
Hmmm?
Humans, chimps, and mice whom are more closely related?

"The gene itself is involved in changing the surfaces of all cells in the body," he said. "The surface of all cells in the body is covered with sugars. This one is missing only in humans.",
Covered in sugars....not unlike children's breakfast cereals.

Don't genes seperate us from apes even now?
Why on earth don't they tell us something new?
