The next SCOTUS retirement - probably summer of `03 - will be filled by a conservative Hispanic. My call is Garza in the 5th Circuit.

I thought Alberto Gonzalez was in the running for the Supremes as well.

I've heard that, too. But Garza would be just as likely. Bush wins a lot of support among conservatives (Garza's said to be about as conservative as Scalia). He also has more experience.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Alberto Gonzalez join Miguel Estrada on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, though. It would be a big improvment for the GOP.

Garza's experience on the bench is a big plus. If Gonzalez gets some experience on the Court of Appeals it'd also boost his chances for the Supremes. Either way, both are a fine fit for the Supreme Court.

The thing is, I think the next generation of Jewish voters will be closer to a 60-40 split in favor of the GOP, and that, combined with a 50-50 split in Hispanic votes, is going to be very tough for the Left to overcome in elections.

The Left will have to stick with their most loyal voting block - blacks - since they turn out big time so often for the party that the Left runs for the most part (the Democrats). And the Jews, and to an extent, Hispanics, have figured that out. So they're looking for a counterbalance that will welcome them. The GOP is doing well in that regard, and the fact is, for the most part, solid conservatives are running the GOP and advance a right-of-center agenda far more often than not.

The left is close to cracking up, IMHO. Bush just has to keep doing what he has been doing.
