Wow, thanks daisy. You know, I want to see that movie so bad and hubby and I can't seem to get time to see it together. I hate watching movies alone. Hey, thanks for trying to clean up the photo and for posting Henry.

thanks to Jim Robinson & FreeRepublic, together as the DC Chapter we get the chance to be Supermen, fighting for truth justice and the American way. " Very well said Gore_War_Vet...and thank you for reminding us of the Chinese Embassy Freep...

That is a very good quote. One of my favorite motivational thoughts is "Silence is Consent"...

What a fantastic choice for "FR's Finest" today, daisyscarlett... the mighty DC Chapter! Kudos to all of you for your dedication (and creativity!). You are a fine group of patriots. Many of your "after-action reports" and the television coverage we saw of the DC Chapter chanting "Get out of Cheney's house!" day after day during the 2000 FL recount was truly awe-inspiring, to say the least! We can't thank you all enough for maintaining your constant memorial vigil at the Pentagon, also.
We have been very fortunate, on a few occasions, to travel to Washington DC in order to join the DC Chapter at FReeper gatherings, such as the 2001 FR Inaugural Ball, the amazing private visit to the White House in August 2001, the MRC Dishonors Awards this past winter and the 2002 White House Correspondents' Dinner FReep last May. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to meet and FReep with all of you. We look forward seeing you again sometime in the near future. Until then, we'll be anxiously awaiting your upcoming "after action reports"!
God bless you all... nutmeg & zelig

Thank you for your post and for reminding us that the D.C. Chapter is maintaining a constant vigil at the Pentagon.....You are very fortunate to have attended all of those events sponsored by the D.C. Chapter. Thanks for sharing....

,,, hello Daisy! Yep, they say "G'day" here and in Aussie. It's shortened from Victorian times when one would say "good day" - in case that wasn't obvious. The graphic you've shown has the Aussie flag. See the Southern Cross on it? The Kiwi flag is almost the same but without that large star.
We have Palmer (spelling?) wallabies in the South Island but they're not native to New Zealand. The Koalas, however, didn't make it this far and know they're onto a good deal in Aussie.
Hope all is well where you are and thanx for brightening my day!

We just watched "We Were Soldiers" over the weekend. The behind the scenes stuff on DVD was really informative too.

It's late, and it's been a troublesome day. I want to say before I go to bed how touched I am by the work put into this fine tribute to the many men and women of the D.C. Chapter.
I'll be back to this thread during the week. Thank you so much!
To: Angelwood
Thanks for stopping by after a very busy work day in Washington D.C.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed the tributes you received today and thank you for sharing further memories with us and answering questions such as how you got to be named "Ringleader".
To: Libertina
Thanks for the Pacific NW Bump for the D.C. freepers. They are awesome, indeed.

Thank you for the post and also for sending me your D.C. Chapter ping list.
This part of your post bears repeating....
"They (D.C. Chapter) believe in Jim Robinson's dream, because it's their dream, too... To root out political fraud and corruption, return our country to its Constitutional roots, and champion causes which further conservatism in America....................... And none of this would have been possible without the dream of Jim Robinson - Free Republic! Thank you, Jim!"

I loved your graphic which accompanied the Pledge of Allegiance. The DC Chapter has been maintaining a memorial at the Pentagon off and on during the past year. The flag draped over a section of the Pentagon reminded me that the construction is nearing completion and there will be a memorial service there on 9/11.
Over the years, the DC Chapter has been active at the March for Justice, the Judgment Day Rally, helped in fundraisers to pay for full-page ads in the Washington Times, took part in the House Managers Rally, enjoyed meeting them at the House Managers Dinner, stood vigil outside the White House as the House voted to impeach William Jefferson Clinton; watched the busloads of democratic congressmen and women arrive to defend the indefensible impeached prez; took our signs and voices to the designated protest area outside the Senate during the so-called trial and vote (met RaceBannon at the Senate protests when he drove down from Connecticut and then regaled us with impersonations of Clinton, Carville and more); continued our protests outside the White House on Saturdays to educate the tourists regarding the character and corruption of those who comprised the Clinton Administration; organized protests outside the Vice President's mansion and originated the chant, GET OUT OF CHENEY'S HOUSE, organized the Free Republic Inaugural Ball and Count the Silverware Party; and protested up until the last evening the Clintons were in residence when the DC Chapter gathered for one last freep:
BILL CLINTON....WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED....DROP THE CIGAR....STEP AWAY FROM THE INTERN....AND COME OUT WITH YOUR PANTS UP!
We didn't know how appropriate our sign, COUNT THE SILVERWARE, was until after the Clintons left town. I wonder if they really did return all the White House items that they took with them.
The DC Chapter protested outside the Chinese Embassy during the crisis when they held our aircrew and plane hostage. We protested Hillary's fundraisers on the corner of Whitehaven and Massachusetts Avenue (the next one will be on September 18 from 5-9 so mark your calendars). We began protests that have been picked up by other chapters across the country under the mantle "Operation Infinite FReep." The DC Chapter also organized The Patriots Rally for America on April 20, 2002 to support our troops, to remember 9/11 and to counter the anti-American and pro-Palestinian groups converging on DC that day.
The members of the DC Chapter are a wonderful group of patriots and I have been honored to be counted as one of them.
One last person needs to be thanked. He's an honorary member of the DC Chapter and is the person responsible for creating Free Republic and allowing us to represent him. Kudos to you, Jim Robinson. FReep On!
