"Don't they also burn from the inside out?"

That is what I have always heard, and that would pretty much explain the usual lack of damage to surroundings. Intense heat at the core and implosion upon the ashes on the outside.

I am not claiming any expertise on this subject or even that I am convinced it actually exists. I'm just repeating what I have heard and read.
