I once thought I would like to live forever...

Now I look forward to dying in 30 years or so...

The way things are going I would hate to see what passes for the USA after that!!

somewhere around 1970-72 my daughter and son were still 5 & 4 years respectively from beginning school and as far as I knew, everything was going great with our schools..i graduated from high school only 7 years earlier and had gotten educated well enuf to get into a good college......as a result...i paid no attention to what the nea was doing...first problem...busing began...may have been necessary but it was the beginning of the ruin of our school system...not because of race problems but because so many unmotivated dark skinned people were dumped on a superior caucasian school system with no preparation...around '74, when my kids reached school age we were able to see the main problem...most of the light skinned kids would finish their assigned classroom work and were forced to wait until the dark skinned children finished...usually in about twice the time...they weren't at fault...their previous schools and their non-motivating parents were, because of the terrible schools they were forced to attend before integration...my wife became active in the pta and was elected president solely as an excuse to be at school to observe what was going on...didn't take long before she came home and demanded that we put the children in private school...even though we still had to pay taxes to support schools that we couldn't justify sending our children to...so we as a young couple had to pay thousands of dollars yearly...not because of being racists...we weren't...but because we knew no other way to get our children a good education...our children grew up and thank goodness are successful...THEY didn't pay attention and guess what, the schools are actually worse because over the years the teachers and then most of the students gaveup ...especially the teachers...finally, my children have four children about twenty five years after they first entered school and guess what...they refuse to send their kids to public school and instead of working for a good income...my daughter stays home full time and teaches the children herself...and has to forego the income that is really needed by young couples now days...they and most of their generation didn't pay attention to the nea...if this generation doesn't pay attention, hopefully, public schools will have been replaced by some form of corporate owned schools...that's a pretty scary concept, too...what about the 2002 version of the nea... well, they oversaw the ruin of our schools...have gotten a bunch of raises while the schools became battlefields with drugs and weapons galore...when i was in school...we thought getting away with smokin' a tobacco cigarette was baddd...the NEA?...California is a fine example...the nea is threatening the parents of home schooled children to put their children in the dangerous public schools or they will be prosecuted for having truant children...young people if YOU don't pay attention what damage will the nea do to YOU and your children...you had better start paying attention...
