I'm not going to argue about the urgent need for action .. but I do note that the "margin of error" in complex accounting models is a bit more relaxed in government circles than in the business world.

Granted. Just this week I posted a thread where I said...

One of the more contentious species of threads encountered on Free Republic are those dealing with the subject of America's immigration policy, particularly with regard to the Illegal Aliens currently in our country. According a range of reasonable sources, the estimates of their numbers here currently here range from six to thirteen million. Whatever the actual count, there are quite a few people now in violation of American immigration law.
LINK

But for you to question methodology now ignores the links I provided at #678 that, if anything, the government methodology is underreporting the numbers of Illegals.

Arne, you'd implied that the numbers on Illegals were exaggerated, and challenged other posters to back them up. I did so.

If you want to dispute my numbers from multiple sources, the burden is now on you to provide something a little more substantial than a self-penned spoof and an Onion link.

After all of this, claiming that you're confused and disinterested really only begs the question. You posted to this thread precisely because you're interested.

There's no numbers. There's no count. The entire model is based on a premise that is laughable. They are just taking unconfirmed numbers from previous years, and trying to ascertain through some rally tenuous trend analysis an estimated growth. It's all gobbledygook. It's a lot of huffing and puffing to prove nothing. You can't prove to me there is ONE illegal immigrant here in Minnesota, much less 48,000. Where are they Tooth, let's go get them! Billie might make us Co-Freepers of the day. Let's find that Census chimp who told us about these people, he must know where they are. You know, and I know, he doesn't know sheet from Shinola. Nobody does.

It's like the homeless. Sometimes you count the same guy 4 or 5 times in a week. Sorry, man, I don't buy the whole shebang. It's circular hoopty doo. I can challenge the rationale of EVERY premise they employed in that thing.

I'm not saying there's no illegal aliens tresspassing, there's millions of them. The analysis you presented did nothing to clear the view however. That was just single man logrolling. It was like one of those machines that Professor Erwin Corey used to construct ... bells and whistles galore, but in the end, nothing of any relevance is accomplished. The 7,000 illegals in Minnesota in '90 is bogus, the 5 million that the DOJ announced in 96 is REALLY bogus, the incompetent or devious a**holes in the Clinton INS and DOJ who MADE this happen to us are expected to be trusted on anything regarding numbers or risk? Maybe they were pushing for a broad amnesty sweep that would present them a ready made voting bloc in 1996 or 2000. Those criminals were capable of anything, I don't place one iota of trust in their numbers or the integrity of their mission.

NOBODY KNOWS THE NUMBER. THEY'RE UNACCOUNTED FOR. They didn't sit down with a Census worker and share their status. It's ... junk stat analysis!

And if you bug me about this, I'm gonna stampede the Mastadons and steamroll your cat. ;^)
