The amazing thing is how well everyday life in California works despite the best efforts of government. Of course, with the nutballs in the legislature and with Grey Davis in a rather desperate mode, things might unravel a bit for the longer term. Some weird anti business and anti productivity stuff is seemingly gaining traction. Previously it was all amusing cultural welfare noise with no real significance. Going forward, it may be less amusing.

Actually, if the California legislature had just nutballs it would be an improvement...

Weird is putting it mildly, but that's just you being you.
Some of the stuff looks like its coming from the Zimbabwean School of Economics.
Seed corn? Yum.

California is a real mystery to me. I try not to bash the state but darn it, California seems to bring so much misery on itself and cannot seem to grow up.

I have just been informed that California's problems are a result of "Nazi" moderators.
