I have not been to the Northeast since I was a teen, and didn't see it then (but then again, I stayed at that time in my cousin's place which was a huge mansion with beautiful white columns, etc), so I did not see what you are talking about, therefore I did not address the issue about the Northeast. However, California I do know, and North Beach is something I do know very well since I go there a lot.
