If Bellesiles were a freshman who'd plagiarized one paragraph on a term paper, Emory would have at least suspended him long ago.

"Investigate" Bellesiles? The fraudulent nature of his research was obvious long ago to any lawyer, legal secretary, or paralegal!

It's long past time for socially-conservative Emory alumni to take back their university. Just quit donating - and tell the beg-a-thon callers why you're no longer donating.

Scandals of antigun activists - including detailed debunking of Bellesiles!

Translation: "We will put Mr. Bellesiles on paid leave while we pretend to investigate him, and when we are sure that you have all stopped paying attention to us, we shall reinstate him with a big fat raise.". Just like in government...JFK

"The University's inquiry regarding Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture is continuing."

Translation: "We are pretending to be legitimately uncertain of what everybody already knows while we are actually hunting for some sort of exit strategy that doesn't involve throwing Bellesisles to the gun-toting yahoos like a meat-filled sock in a room full of Dobermans."

In the minds of the left, it is the intent that should be the focus. According to them, this guy's intent was "admirable" (in their opinion). So, given that emotion trumps all, how could they possibly do anything but give him a pass?

Instapundit put up a Yale Law Journal article that examines evidence in this case in detail. There were 74,000 downloads of the article in the first week. Here is a link to it:

Emory is trying to figure out how to drain the bitter cup, and they are having a very hard time with it.

What they don't realize is that the longer they wait, the more bitter the draught.

Regards,

Gee, I wonder if I can get a six-month paid vacation if I start writing reports based on stuff I make up out of my head instead of doing all that boring research.
