Don't believe it. Bush has made it clear he will consult congress and probably seek a resolution to attack. I don't think he has done that. I think Imhofe is off base. Surely he is not a dunce enough to make a statement like that based on classified material. I just can't think we can get a resolution from congress before Sept, late Sept. My thought is that Bush is delaying and delaying. My hunch is we won't invade Iraq,,don't know why, just doesn't seem like Bush is in any hurry. And I trust him and his team.

I agree with you. Inhofe has been a solid conservative and very reliable. This salvo is to keep Saddam on the defensive. I do believe all this talk of attacking Iraq is simply done to keep oil prices down before the November elections. After November, anything can happen. Nevertheless, when it comes to attacking Iraq, time is on Bush's side.

"doesn't seem like Bush is in any hurry"

A lot of people on both sides of this think Bush has already made up his mind and an attack is a foregone conclusion. I'm not sure that's true. Isn't it possible that he's being doing what he says he's been doing, i.e., exploring the options? Michael Kelly wrote a column the other day criticizing Bush for not countering the "don't attack" crowd, but why should he if he hasn't made up his mind yet? If Bush is genuinely exploring alternatives, it would not be proper for him to be publicly taking one side or the other.

Wow, cajungirl, I feel like you opened my mind and peeked inside. For I too do not believe we will be attacking Iraq. I too don't know why but somehow I think the whole thing will go down differently. Perhaps the anti-saddam iraqis will take him down with a little help from some friends. Perhaps somebody will somehow put a bullet right inside his head. Perhaps he'll head for the high hills himself. Whatever, I think all this disinformation is deliberate and orchestrated, up to and including the Scowcraft thing.

I also trust this administration because at the end of the day, what with disinformation being bandied all about it's about impossible to know the truth. There's really nothing else we can go but trust the adminstration to do the right thing. I thank God every day I have the ability to place my vulnerability into the hands of decent leaders. I know God really does bless America because no way could I ever have trusted Gore and I suspect nor could most of America.

Bush wants to topple Saddam from within. Invasion will be a last resort. Nothing is imminent at this time.
