Before anyone says otherwise imagine if someone blurbed on national news that we were planning to invade Normandy. The proper comparison would be someone blurting out that we were planning to invade Europe (not Normandy.) And of course Hitler already knew that. That's why he put Rommel in charging of reinforcing the Atlantic Wall. There's not the slightest thing wrong with anyone saying we're planning to invade Iraq. The president, all his advisors, multiple heads of state in Europe and the Mideast have been saying the same thing for the last six months. The only way Saddam wouldn't know we were planning to invade was if he'd died from happiness last September.

I saw Senator Inhofe at CPAC a couple of years ago. He was one of the sharpest and most knowledgeable people there. If he said this he is only doing it with the blessing of GW Bush et al.

Actually, I believe that GW said that it was reported that Abu Nidel was shot four times...
The part that really caught my attention was wat GW said after this...he said something to the effect that if Abu Nidel is indeed dead that the lesson is that when the world fights terrorism we will take out one terrorist at a time. This told me that Bush knows who was sent to take out Abu Nidel and the only question in his mind was whether or not they had successfully completed the job. I bet on Mossad.

Mossad will be very useful to us.

Why do so many people assume this is a leak? If it's a leak it is designed to do something and has the approval of the Admin. Inhofe is not dumb.

Put me down for September 12th, U.S. time.

From the vouch's given for Imhofe, people say he is quite good, then we have to assume he said it for a purpose and he wasn't just being a blabber mouth. I honestly do not think Bush will do this without going to congress,,how fast could he do that? Is this all a head fake,,sort of letting Saddam think we are coming and letting someone else finish him off and waiting for the revolution and dancing in the streets in Baghdad?

It's funny that you say that spelling imminent wrong "impedes clarity and understanding" because I understood what everyone said regardless of how it was spelled.

the president is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. . . The way I read it congress authorized the president to go after the people who were behind the 9-11 attack. If it can't be shown that Hussein was behind 9-11, then it seems clear to me that Bush has to back to congress for authorization to attack Iraq, this time on the grounds that Hussein is a threat to Israel or the U.S.
To: Fracas
He was articulate and better - IMHO - blunt about the reason others were bad-mouthing going after Iraq. He was also naming names, which needs to be done. What did Inhofe say Brent Scrowcroft's motive was for saying we shouldn't attack Iraq?
To: Khazaria
While I am glad to see that you are excited over the prospect of Bush getting re-elected, I hope you agree with me that war should be planned and fought to win the war, and the war only. Politics has no place when sending our men into battle...
To: TADSLOS
"Which is why I believe there's no basis of truth to his claim, "
Good bet on that. What are the odds that it is already under way? (not really a betting type but can't help but look at it from the gamble perspective.)

I agree with what you say with regard to Abu Nidal. However, I believe that there were news reports saying that there were three bullets. In fact, the first article that I saw on it on FR from an Israel based paper said there were 20 shots...I didn't know what to think about that! Bush's statement about terrorists not being to hide definately was said to give the impression that the good guys took Abu Nidal out...who knows!?

I used to live pretty close to Jenks. I lived in the Eagle something or other apartment complex on 71st and close to Sheriden in Tulsa. Go Sooners!

"Beware the ides of September."
It's a Friday the 13th too...mentioned just for the fun of it.

The reason you don't see Senator Inhofe much is because he is articulate, intelligent, and conservative. He is therefore not invited by most of the media, who prefer John McCain and other doofuses. (They get to pick who to invite, you know.)
He is an excellent senator from Oklahoma, and is quite knowledgeable about intelligence and the military. If you can get Fox, once in a while he is on their shows. He is not, however, a publicity hound, which is probably why you don't know him.
