The article was okay, up until the line, "So many things have changed since 1987.
" All of a sudden, she thinks the life of a murderous, low-life scum is worth more than her life??? She must be really depressed, to think such a thing.

So, from the safe distance of ten years, you repudiate your own instinctive reaction to a mortal threat?
How convenient!
You silly, silly child! I pray that you've had no more children to endanger, with your reckless denial of your responsibility to defend them.
BTW, where was the child's father on that night ten years ago? Or do you even know who he is?

her infant sonGranted, had she been alone, she may have had grounds to make the decision she ponders now, but I agree with you. Defending her child should be primary.

To steal the words of another Freeper on this thread, I think it is "Breathtakingly Stupid" to even suggest that to defend your own person in your own home will put your soul in danger.

Ah, so her violent murderous proselytism of the past is continuing. She is unappologetic about disarming the innocent. What a sick person.

The reverse side of 911 is that a jack booted thug is only a phone call away for your neighbor.

Horsepuckdey. I suspect that she understandably is trying rationalize away her feelings of fear, rage and helplessness. I would bet that the next time she is attacked, accosted, or simply pissed off she will respond in a manner that is disproportionate to the aggression against her.
This lady appears to be the personification of the liberal/Kumbaya mindset and should feel right at home in Boulder. Christianity and virtually every other religion of which I am aware teaches that self-defense does not lead to losing one's soul....

Vomit. I pity the woman's baby. Who will look out for it? Protect it to the death? Obviously not its mother.

"Gun advocates who argue against gun control on the grounds that it may eventually lead to confiscation of hunting weapons miss the point. Gun advocates who argue against gun control on the grounds that it would increase crime miss the point. Gun advocates who argue against gun control on the grounds that it would require massive paperwork and bureaucratic inforcement measures miss the point. The only relevant issue (aside from the fact that the government doesn't have a right to keep you from owning anything) is self-defense. You have a natural right to defend yourself and your family, and it's none of the government's business how you go about it." Yes it is stupid. And it shows - at least to me - that she is not a Christian. If I happen to be wrong - it has happened many times before - than she has no understanding of her faith.
Jesus states to turn the other cheek. We must always show love not violence. But, Jesus knows that as humans we are weak - in spirit and belief. That is why we will be forgiven over and over and over.
How many times must I forgive my brother? Not just seven times but seventy times seventy.
The prodigal son leaves his family and deserts his father, squandering his inheritance. He returns, willing to work for his father at low wages. But his father forgives him, and welcomes him back. Why? Because, our Father in Heaven loves us and knows we will make mistakes, but when we return with sorry begging for forgiveness, He will take us back into the fold. We must also do this for others.
The foreman hires men during the day. At the end of the day, the men hired at four in the afternoon gets the same pay as the man hired at six. Why? Because, no matter what time of our life we turn to God - even at our deathbed - we get the same reward as the person who always believed in God. The person should not be jealous of this but exalt in happiness that our Father has welcomed another into the fold.
God knows what is in our heart while Satan only knows us because of our actions. Those who say it costs your soul knows nothing of the love of Christ. You can sell your soul to Satan, but Jesus can always get it back for you. He knows whether you are trying to pull a scam or not.
If this woman had the choice of laying down her life to save her child, that is something else. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend. Or in this case, for another loved one. However, she now states that she would let these people kill her and her child, in order to keep her soul pure. I have news for her. Her soul is not pure. It is in fact an act of evil to allow another innocent to come to harm.
