Quite simply, the fact of the matter is that there aren't any other options that I think would be right.

I'll admit my solution is not perfect, but some of the other options I've seen are option that I do not think are right, particularly if my brother's experiences over the course of his mission are the case.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm darn sure that kicking out folks who are busting their butts to make a better life for themselves is NOT the right answer.

Why can't they bust their butts in Mexico and make a better life for themselves in their own country?

As I understand your partial Amensty proposal at #65, millions of current Illegal Aliens would qualify.

Wouldn't that be a rather attractive magnet for more foreign nationals to enter our country as Illegals?

If'n they're illegal, they've gotta go.

'tooth, you and I started playing with this last month; poorer black folks recognize that the poorer illegals are taking their jobs away from them in many areas. There are plenty of hand-wringing bedwetters that would love to point to the old adage, "Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." But of course, they don't have any remedy for our tired, poor, huddled masses. Cynthia McKinney's campaign grabbed homeless and un/underemployed folks to hold signs in the sweltering heat early this week, here in metro Atlanta, promising them $100 for the day's work, only not to pay them. At the same time, in various places around Atlanta, illegals stand gathered on street corners during morning rush, trying to get day-laborer's jobs. Many of them end up getting them - the contractors don't care, as long as the work gets done.

Granting amnesty is akin to throwing open the flood gates and yelling "C'mon in!" Because for every illegal you grant amnesty to, they've got a brother, cousin, father, aunt, grandmother, son, daughter, wife, uncle four times removed or some other relative that they want to include. You think the border patrol has a time of it now? You ain't seen nothing yet. Watch the flood gates open, literally.

Oh, and you think Vicente Fox wants to stop this? Of course not! I'm sure he's got folks encouraging the poor, the indigent, the sick, the criminals, the dregs of Mexican society to "run for the border" and I'm not talking about Taco Bell.

No, Vicente Fox would love Texas to become Tamaulipas del Norte.

Again, you don't understand the long-standing consequences of what you're advocating. That facts are that your brother's experiences appear more in line with an emotional reaction to how your brother was treated. This does not, in essence, eliminate those who despise the United States, nor does it indicate their deep-down thoughts and ability to assimilate. They may be nice, but that doesn't mean that when push comes to shove they won't stand by their Mexican brothers and push for a secession of the southwest, or vote for the most anti-American LaRaza cadidate.

"...particularly if my brother's experiences over the course of his mission are the case."

There's this brother of yours, again.

Neither you nor he know what you're talking about.

According to a recent Zogby poll almost 6 out of every 10 Mexicans believe that the American Southwest belongs to Mexico and that they don't need U.S. permission to enter the U.S., because the Southwest rightfully belongs to them.

New Zogby Poll: Mexicans Say Southwest U.S. Belongs To Them; Shouldn't Need Permission To Enter U.S.

Your brother's impressions of the people that staggered into a Mormon mission in Las Vegas are meaningless. They're not a representative sample. They're not the equivalent of a scientific poll.

You're not going to subject us to 10 more posts about your brother's irrelevant opinions on this thread, like you did the last one, are you?

Give it a rest, already.
