My statement that "the increase in autism was due to wider redefinition of autism in the last ten years" was reflective of well established belief among the major pediatric academic centers in our nation. If Congressman Waxman chooses to not heed the established opinions of most major academic medical centers, then it just reflects Congressman Waxman's lack of logic and reasoning.
Regarding your insistence that MMR causes autism, please go to http://www.cispimmunize.org/fam/mmr/a_wake.html
-- bonesmccoy's scientific "criticism" of Andrew Wakefield
LMAO....sure Paul Offit would criticize Wakefield. He's on the Merck payroll.
From the Apr 6, 2000 Burton hearings comes this exchange:
Mr. Burton. I want to thank the panel. We will now go to our questions. Dr. Offit, you talk about collaboration, I guess, with the Merck Pharmaceutical Co.? Dr. Offit. Yes. As I disclosed in my written report, I have been in collaboration with Merck and Company on the development of a rotavirus vaccine since 1992. Mr. Burton. Do you do any traveling around, speaking on behalf of Merck or Merck products? Dr. Offit. I travel and speak about vaccines, and those talks are supported by unrestricted educational grants from either pharmaceutical companies or from universities. Mr. Burton. So they pay for your expenses and that sort of thing? Dr. Offit. They have an interest in educating physicians about vaccines, and it is good that they do, because physicians need to be educated about vaccines. Mr. Burton. I understand. And they produce the MMR vaccine, don't they? Dr. Offit. Yes, they do, yes. Mr. Burton. Thank you. |
