Yes but they didn't fight for the sake of fighting. They had a goal.

I agree. The Susan B. Anthony quote was in reference to your previous post wherein you mentioned that people will follow the leader because they feel that they will be safe in doing so ... but as you said, each of us has to look at the challenge as one that might demand our own sacrifice ... we can't be willing to let someone else do it for us. "Cautious, careful people ... can never affect a reform."

With regard to re-instituting the mindset that we are a republic as opposed to a democracy, we have our work cut out for us. As you have said, this democratic mindset has been institutionalized, and it will take great effort to reverse that slide.

My favorite quote on democray and liberty is from Franklin, "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch ... Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote."

Stay armed ... don't get eaten.
