FR has a couple of moderators who have bought into this. They never use the words socialist or communist without tacking on the word Anarchist. I call them the Gestapo twins. I saw them ban a newbie for saying government is fraud because it promotes anarchy. This is hardly a banning offense. I doubt that there are many of us here on FR who haven’t thought the same thing and voiced that thought. They probably will jump on this thread by pasting and coping a jillion words from the organized anarchy (read communist) web sites. I am hereby warning them to stay off this thread or I’ll “out” you faster than snot runs down a kids nose.

To spend a delightful evening exploring this in a very entertaining way, I recommend you go rent Lerner and Lowe’s “Paint Your Wagon”, a musical, with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin. It is the early American west at its best.

They probably will jump on this thread...

Nah. They'll likely ignore this thread.
So just "out" them now.

So in a democracy if 50.0001% of the VOTING population either works for the government or is on a government subsistence program, and they need more money in the public till, by simple majority vote they can abolish your right to your private property.

Preach it brother.

At your age I am sure there is no problem.

However, I think our kids are being taught that a "little bit" of socialism is a good thing.

We need to disabuse them of that idea too.

The only way we are going to do that is to take our language back.

Thank you for asking the question.

Welp, I came back to clarify my post (the word 'union' needn't be italicized, though it might make a pun), and you did it for me.

However, I think our kids are being taught that a "little bit" of socialism is a good thing. We need to disabuse them of that idea too.

Agree-eeed. How about teaching people how to think (which is closely related to respecting the language)? Think about, for example, why communism was the 'ism' of choice in a self-proclaimed 'socialist' state. Why atheism was the state religion there. And why generations were miserable there. And why tens (hundreds?) of millions were murdered by the state there for the crime of thinking for themselves. And why free enterprise didn't flourish there when ostensibly given the opportunity (hint: free enterprise requires a moral foundation -- true liberty -- in order to function at its best and benefit a people).

Yes but kids are naturally drawn to libertarianism, which was the intent of the Founding Fathers (don't let OWK know I said that). The Founders did not intend anarchism but state control of laws rather than a federal model.

" free enterprise requires a moral foundation "

It certainly does.

As does most everything that is right and holy.

One of the beauties of Americans is thier natural disdain for the rules.

A US senator was expected to be a statesman, and look out for the best interest of our country, not HIS state.

Great piece, BadJoe! Bump!

For ever speeder, there is someone complaining about them. We have a natural disdain for rules being broken by OTHER people.

Except for the speed laws.

We tend to follow that guy, thinking he'll get the ticket.

But we really appreciate his leading the way.

Same thing applies to political action.

Hmmm....I don't know. I do a lot of work for the Republican Party locally. I work the polls and hand out flyers and such. I don't know that I appreciate the candidates leading the way as much as I feel "better him than me". I agree with Teddy Roosevelt that politics is a game for "barflies and Gammons with a heartfelt love for moral corruption".
