Did the conservative stand his or her ground about Islam being an evil religion? I would. I studied Islam along with my homeschooled son about a year and a half before 9/11. Even then, we were shocked at how Islam exhorted followers to do violence and practice intolerance towards Jews and other infidels in the name of allah. Any devout Muslim who follows Mohammad's exhortations at the end of the Koran (after the local Jews and Christians rejected his message) would have to side with the terrorists.
Of course, both my son and I never, ever thought that the majority of Muslims the world over would actually carry out a bonifide jihad against the West or support those jihadists that did with adulations, celebrations and lame, pathetic excuses as to why the USA deserved the events of 9/11 because they were so mean towards Muslims.
9/11 changed my mind about what the religion of Islam has in store for us. (And, no, it ain't just a few looney tunes who have "hijacked" the so-called religion of peace) Unless, Islam undergoes a reformation/transformation, the end game for the religion is to eventually conquer, then subject the world to a barbaric form of Sharia or Islamic law. Any infidel who doesn't like it can be taxed, (exhorted) enslaved or murdered by a Muslim with little, if any, penalties. Yeah, there may be a few "moderate" Muslims out there, but they sure are quiet and don't appear too often on CNN...
Mark Steyn: Multiculturalists are the real racists
On this "Islam is peace" business, Bassam Tibi, a Muslim professor at Goettingen University in Germany, gave a helpful speech a few months back: "Both sides should acknowledge candidly that although they might use identical terms these mean different things to each of them," he said.
"The word 'peace,' for example, implies to a Muslim the extension of the Dar al- Islam -- or 'House of Islam' -- to the entire world. This is completely different from the Enlightenment concept of eternal peace that dominates Western thought." Only when the entire world is a Dar al-Islam will it be a Dar a-Salam, or "House of Peace."
When is anyone going to be honest enough in the West to bring this to the attention of the media and those in positions in govt who are directing us in this struggle?
