Depends on the size of the explosion and the distance. A shaped charge, directing most of the explosion's energy at the asteroid, would be best. But depending on impact speed, if you have a 1-ton probe hitting at 1 mile per second relative velocity. . .explosives would be irrelevant. Figure asteroid and planetary collisions have at LEAST a mile a second velocity difference. . . .
