We had vehicle inspections on a regular basis. It was seen under the seat by a nosey asst. manager.....

Now I see the situation. Where I am, I have a concealed-carry license. When I have my gun, it is on my person, either in my pocket or in a holster under my shirt. To find it, somebody would have to pat me down, which I would not permit unless it was a cop and I had no choice

Once the manager found it, he probably had no choice, particularly if there was another witness to the discovery. If the manager knows you are armed, then the company is liable if they continue to employ you with that knowledge and you have to defend yourself some dark night

The best solution is to have your firearm in deep concealment while you are around people who you cannot afford to reveal your armed status to, and then move the gun to be more easily accessible once you are on the road

Thankfully, the job was only PT and not as important as my life. The chain policy had always been that drivers were forbidden to be armed. While I took that as a violation of my Constitutional rights of bearing arms for self protection and the right to life and liberty, the policy was/is clear. I took my chances and didn't waver from my convictions. It made no difference that I have a concealed carry and am proficient in small arms use.

Ya win some, ya lose some. While I never had to pull my sidearm and use it or display it to avert a threat to myself or another person, it was comforting to know that I wasn't "naked" before a criminal element. Your advice is true. Keep it as well "hidden" until you're out of the parking lot and on the road to your delivery. Carrying it on body wasn't an option since there was no effective way to conceal it while in "uniform". Those delivery persons who have either been robbed, assaulted, injured or killed did not always have to be so. While the perpetrators must accept maximum responsibilty for the crimes, so too do the businesses who bow down to pressure and political correctness and knowingly permit their employees to face the threat of violent injury and death, unarmed and without protection, at the hands of that criminal element.
