But, then again, I guess our culture has all of the answers. I mean, just think what they buy do if these women lived in the U.S. Letting it all hang out is just so sexy, isn't it? And if you don't have it all in the right places, it can always be either surgically removed, or pumped up with silicon.

Our culture doesn't have all the answers. It does, however, provide plenty of choices for its women. I can personally choose to go to my beach right now, wearing this head-to-toe swimsuit, or I can choose to wear a bikini. It's nobody's business (especially the state's) but mine. I can also choose to buy into having my body surgically altered or enhanced, or not.

The article says that in Turkey, most women there choose to wear western-style bathing suits. But remember, in the majority of Islamic countries, that certainly is not an option. Women can be jailed or worse for wearing a western-style bathing suit.

Trust me, I deal with Muslim women on a daily basis here in Germany and they are not the simple, pious women you think you see from afar. Most of them behave like crude wolves in pious sheeps' clothing. They are the ones who have no respect for other cultures -- not vice-versa. And there is ample evidence that these women also are "accessories to the crimes" committed by their Muslim men over here.

Others can only admire those so sophisticated as to be in complete control of their sense of humor. The sense of humor among we the great unwashed, is completely spontaneous, like a sneeze, a yawn, or a f-rt.

Some are born to ridicule, others aspire to ridicule, still others,by over sensitivity or over evalution of their self worth, inadvertently make themselves the target of ridicule.

I hope that my sense of humor is a bit too sophisticated to enjoy stupid, insensitive attacks against simple, pious women from a culture vastly different than ours.

Not necessarily "simple", and not necessarily "pious", as others here have pointed out. And it depends what you call pious. Some of them are prayin' hard five times a day for YOUR total and complete annihilation, because you, western woman, are "immodest", in their "pious" opinion!

One last thing. We in the west are supposed to respect their hyper-modesty in their choice of swimwear. Fine by me. I just hope this courtesy cuts both ways. I hope they respect and honor MY choice of swimwear, whatever it is, because it's MY culture.

Don't you worry about whether those Muslims respect your choice of swim wear or not. If you are equipped to wear a suit that offends their modesty, I'll guarantee you that any of us old codgers within the range of our tired old eyes, will appreciate your choice in swim wear and defend to the death, your right to wear it.

"My, that is a pretty swimsuit. Nice, soft fabric. And reasonably priced too. I can scarcely wait to hit the beaches wearing this. Isn't it wonderful that Allah has provided us with such bounty?"
