Well, sir, I assure you that my omission of the US Air Force from my statement was unwitting. Every man and woman who has served in the US military as you and I have is a hero to me. I firmly believe that if the military was in charge of making the decisions to go to war, the US would fight a lot less wars. Why, you ask? Because it is the soldier, the airman and the sailor and the Marine that is called upon to fight and sacrifice and bleed and die for his country and not the upstart "armchair general" civilian "know it all" politico that is responsible for getting this country into most of its wars in the first place.

Ultimately, it is the ground pounder who spills his blood. I am not in a favor of a rush to war witrh Iraq, but I am not convinced we shouldn't either. How much time should we give Saddam? Don't know about that either. Who knows, maybe Israel will take them out first. This is a tough call, but I did not want to do this kind of stuff, so I was USAF. We let the pilots do it.

They are heros to me too. But they have chosen to serve, voluntarily, in our military and to subject themselves to civilian rule. They know what that means.
